Recyclable shopping bags are popular for the environment, a new study shows that the shopping bags may contain deadly bacteria that pose a serious threat to public health.

Charles Giba, a medical expert at Arizona, State University in the United States, randomly selected 84 shoppers ' shopping bags and found that half of the bags contained E. coli, a virus that killed 26 Scots in 1996. The scientists also found that most of the bags contain salmonella, especially after the raw meat food is more likely to cause disease. The researchers found that most of the shopping bags were made of jute and polypropylene fabrics, which, despite their green environment, would contaminate bacteria if they were not regularly sterilized. The study also shows that the hotter the climate, the greater the threat of this pollution to human health. Because when people ingest food contaminated with E. coli, the bacterium enters the body.

It can pose a deadly threat to children and the elderly. A poll also found that 97% of shoppers never cleaned or disinfected their shopping bags. The researchers believe that consumers often do not regularly clean the concept of shopping bags, in addition, ordinary cleaning does not kill germs. Experts suggest that people should at least once a week to carry out a high temperature disinfection of shopping bags, such as boiling water for 10-15 minutes, so that can completely kill pathogenic bacteria.
